A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
It is hard to believe that
another winter is over. The last day to file your tax return was yesterday and
with that behind us we now begin to look forward to the summer and a well
earned vacation. The state of the economy still creeps into every
conversation. We all know people that have been laid off or have lost their
job due to their company closing. The stock market appears to have found a bottom
and the housing market looks like it is doing or has done the same. We search
constantly for some good news. So for the rest of my space here, nothing but
good news…I promise:
1)
Thank you to the amazing staff in
the internal medicine office who dealt with a fire in their building. They
never missed a beat with patient care and the medical records were safe and
sound in our EMR.
2)
Thank you to the folks in the
Bally office who put on a yard sale so they can help out a worthy cause
3)
Thanks to everyone for wearing
their PMSI badge with pride
4)
Thanks to everyone for being a
“change agent” in healthcare. Only 4% of all medical practices have a fully
implemented EMR. We are among the elite!
5)
Thanks to the folks in the
Pulmonary Department for taking the time to make people laugh on April Fool’s
Day.
6)
Thanks to everyone who does
something for someone and doesn’t let everyone know what they have done.
7)
Thanks to Dr. Childs and her staff
for wanting to be a part of this organization. We welcome their spirit and desire
to make healthcare a better thing.
8)
Thanks to Harry Kalas for every
“Outta Here!” homerun call he made. The sound of Philadelphia baseball will
never be the same.
9)
Thanks to the Rheumatology Department
for working to open a new office that will provide the highest quality care to
the patients of this area
10)
Thanks to our patients who put
their trust in us each and every day.
Now I am sure that someone is
reading this wondering why I haven’t mentioned them. The truth is that there
isn’t enough room to mention all the good that you do. Take the time to find
the good in people. It is everywhere but we have to look a little harder these
days. A small random act of kindness goes a long way to make this crazy world
a better place. You all make a difference every day and for that, I thank you.
EMR update! GI is up
and running in Allscripts. Dr. Vaisman is now also on EMR and viewing his
tasks. Ortho has started their training and the EMR team has hopes that they
will be implemented by the end of April. The latest and greatest version of
Allscripts-V11 is scheduled to be implemented the first week of October. We
have to schedule training sessions just as we did with our current version.
The view on V11 is quite different than what we are used to seeing now. As you
all know, we have to convert the entire organization on the same day when we
move over to V11, we do not have the option to go office by office this time.
It will be a brand new installation and promises to be very time consuming for
our IT department and the EMR task team. I am certain that all of you will
have no trouble acclimating to the new system just as you did when we made the
initial move to EMR. You all do a great job.
PMSI
welcomes a new Internal Medicine practice located in Phoenixville. Dr. Marion
Childs has joined PMSI as of 4/1/2009. Dr. Child’s office went live on EMR day
one!

****NEW IRS INFORMATION****
Withholding Calculator…..The purpose of this application is
help employees to ensure that they do not have too much or too little income
tax withheld from their pay. It is not a replacement for Form W-4, but most people
will find it more accurate and easier to use than the worksheets that accompany
FormW-4. You may use the results of this program to help you complete a new
Form W-4, which you can then submit to administration. Go to the following
website for more information. www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0
You should use the withholding calculator to ensure that the
reduced withholding will not result in having too little income tax withheld
(possibly causing you to owe taxes next
year if:
Ø
You are an employee with two concurrent jobs.
Ø
You and your spouse both work
Ø
You can be claimed as a dependent on your income taxes
